The gourmet hot dog parlor that's been part of Swampscott the last five years has expanded to a place on the waterfront in America's oldest seaport. Popo's Olde-Fashioned Gourmet Hot Dogs, which first opened on Nahant Bay in Swampscott in 2004, has opened a Gloucester shop at 6 Rogers St., at the eastern end of the business plaza across the street from St. Peter's Square.

Popo's Olde Fashioned Gourmet Hot Dogs is located along the beautiful waterfront of Gloucester harbor at 6 Rogers St. We serve fresh homemade fare that is both, health conscious and delicious. Our hearty gourmet hot dogs are made with only the choicest meats and freshest vegetables. All of our breads are freshly baked. Popo's creates uniquely satisfying sides that are topped with our unique homemade dressings. Of course, we can't forget to mention that after your gourmet experience you can help yourself to a full line of Brigham's famous premium Ice Cream while you enjoy the fresh harbor air.

Popo's menu includes tuna rolls, lobster rolls and Brigham's Olde-Fashioned premium ice cream. But the star of the show is the olde-fashioned, gourmet hot dog. Since the Swampscott shop's opening in 2004, Popo's Olde-Fashioned Gourmet Hot Dogs have earned four "Phantom Gourmet" awards, and the dogs themselves have been named "Best hot dog in Massachusetts" by AOL's City Best. The menu features some 15 different "named hot dogs", from Chicago hot dogs, New York hot dogs and Boston hot dogs - all with regional flare - to such specialties such as Thai Dogs - with Popo's own special peanut sauce - and "Slaw Dog" with, you guessed it, cole slaw topping. Popo's features 75 hot dog toppings which include traditionals such as mustard, relish and onions, to the more exotic entries such as cole slaw, Jamaican relish and nacho cheese. The hot dogs themselves feature all-natural casing. Gourmet hot dogs go for $3.95 each, and ice cream items run from about $2.95 to $4.95. So come on down and say hello.
